3 Step Skincare Routine for a Glowing Skin

3 step skincare routine for a glowing skin

Whether you are taking a stroll in Sephora or a scroll through your Instagram, the fact remains that whenever you see all those fancy skincare products you just want to dive right in and go for that skincare routine you’ve been planning since ages. But despite all this fascination and your desires for healthy skin, why is that most people procrastinate their way through or are simply unable to develop one fixed routine?

The reasons for this can be many ranging from some people’s misconceptions around the term “skincare” like considering it too tedious a task, something which requires expensive inputs, something which they are too lazy to perform or simply something which yields no significant results.

But the fact remains that as much as you try to avoid that skincare routine, it is an essential part of the maintenance for healthy and glowing skin. As we grow older, our skin also completely transforms from a bright, glass-like appearance too much more intricate problems like- wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, spots, dullness, hyperpigmentation etc. While some parts of it are completely natural and everyone will have to go through at some point in their life, other things are easily preventable if taken care of.

Finding a good skincare routine that works for you will do wonders for your skin but this is the most tricky part since it requires a little research and time to see what works for you and what does not. Here, we have curated a 3 step skincare routine that will work for all the skin types and require minimal effort since let’s be honest, we are most likely to stick to it only if we can incorporate this easily into our daily lives.

Taking Care Of Your Skin Is More Important Than You Think

TAKING CARE OF YOUR SKIN IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU THINK

Before commencing further I’d like to dedicate a whole section on why you should start that skincare routine because if there’s no realization on your end as to why you are doing it; no matter how hard you try, you will eventually stop on your third or fourth day or even after a week.

Taking care of your skin is something that should come naturally to you because even if you don’t have extensive knowledge of skin and how it functions, I think it is visible to the human eye that the condition of your skin deteriorates as you age. Even if we do not consider the natural process of ageing, there are many other environmental and physical factors like pollution, poor eating habits, improper sleep schedule, stress, fast-paced life, etc. which contribute towards less radiant skin.

The outermost layer of our skin is constantly shedding the older cells and making way for the newer cells. It is the reason why we shed millions of skin cells every day and it becomes imperative to go for its maintenance to prevent a dull and tired look on your face. It will only help you in the long run by providing a barrier of prevention against the worsening skin conditions which you will face later in your life.

Trust me, taking good care of your skin will make a huge difference in how you feel about yourself by giving you a major confidence boost which you always needed. Moreover, for many people including myself, skincare has been proven therapeutic and can act as a small escape from our otherwise monotonous routine. It is guaranteed that once you get yourself into the habit of taking care and loving your skin, you will never go back. It will just require your time, consistency, and efforts; the result of which will be extremely fruitful.

The Ultimate 3 Step Skincare Routine

The Ultimate 3 STEP Skincare Routine

If you ever feel too lazy or tired to get yourself to that routine, I got you. This very easy and quick three-step skincare routine requires little effort from your side and will leave you with the most rejuvenated and healthy skin you could ask for.

The good part is it requires just three products, two of which would be, I assume, readily available with the majority of people- CLEANSER, TONER, and a MOISTURIZER. Also, with each category, I will enlist a suitable product for your skin type.

Here is the Ultimate 3 step skincare routine for a glowing skin –

Step 1 : CLEANSER

cleanser

If you are new into the world of skincare no need to worry as a cleanser is just a fancy name for a facewash. Yes, the one you regularly use. The slight difference is that cleansers tend to be more gentle than your traditional face washes.

So, the first step of the CTM skin care routine is, of course, a cleanser. A cleanser is a facial product that penetrates into your skin and removes excess oil, dirt particles, dead skin, makeup, and basically external debris from your face while leaving your skin smooth and clean.

Ideally, it should be applied two times a day: one before starting your morning and one before sleeping to cleanse the accumulated pollutants throughout the whole day. Just take a pea-sized amount of cleanser, apply it to your face for about 60 seconds, wash your face and pat dry it a cotton towel and you are good to go.

For different skin types and particular skin issues, there are thousands of cleansers available in the market and you can just pick one and see what works for your skin.

  • OILY SKIN – Gel cleansers, foam cleansers, clay cleansers
  • DRY SKIN/SENSITIVE SKIN – Cream cleansers, Oil cleansers
  • NORMAL SKIN – Oil cleansers
  • COMBINATION SKIN – Foam cleansers, clay cleansers

Step 2 : TONER

toner

The second and most neglected step is applying a toner. Most people choose to skip this part because of the false assumption that toners are harsh and irritate your skin. People feel that toners are just an unnecessary addition to your skincare regimen and they don’t actually do a lot of work but it is completely false.

Toner is actually a fast penetrating liquid of very thin consistency which helps to maintain the pH levels of your skin and preps it before you apply a moisturizer. It also helps get rid of the stubborn dirt or leftover makeup you have even after cleaning your face. Some additional benefits of using a toner include: it shrinks the pores, adds a layer of protection, refreshes your skin and binds moisture to your skin.

Using a toner is very simple. You can either put it on a cotton pad or simply just take a few drops and pat gently on your face. You can use it in the morning and night but if your skin gets easily irritated just stick to one time a day.

  • OILY/ ACNE PRONE SKIN– An alcohol-based toner with salicylic acid and alpha hydroxy acid (AHA)
  • DRY/SENSITIVE SKIN– Glycerin based with essential oils, aloe vera and amino acids as main ingredients
  • NORMAL/COMBINATION SKIN- Glycerin based with coenzyme Q10 and hyaluronic acid as key ingredients

Step 3 : MOISTURIZER

STEP 3: MOISTURIZER

The third and the final step of the routine is all about moisturizing. Even though your skin has its own mechanism of secreting the natural oils(sebum), it is necessary for us to go for extra hydration against the harsh outside conditions.

Applying a layer of moisturizer on your face will prevent your skin from drying, reduce the appearances of other blemishes and give it a beautiful glow. A moisturizer would be particularly beneficial for people with dry skin who regularly face problems like rashes, itching, redness and flaking on their face.

According to dermatologists, the best time to apply moisturizer is just after taking a shower when your skin is damp so that it absorbs and retains most of its benefits. Just place the required amount of moisturizer on your hands and slather it all over your face for healthy and plump skin.

  • OILY SKIN- Look for products which contain hyaluronic acid in a serum or gel formula
  • DRY SKIN/ SENSITIVE SKIN- The key ingredients should be hydrating in nature like Shea butter, hyaluronate, ceramides etc.
  • NORMAL/COMBINATION SKIN- Go for a lightweight moisturizer

Additional Steps That Will Help

ADDITIONAL STEPS THAT WILL HELP

So, that was all you need to do for maintaining the quality of your skin because no matter what you think, the way you have your skin right now will not remain the same in future. While you have the chance to protect it and prevent and unwanted damage, just do it. Even if it just a single little step it will get you a visible result over time.

We need to take good care of our skin but at the same, it is also very for us to protect our skin from direct contact of UV rays, dust particles, and pollution. We got to be very careful about how, when, why, and what remedies we are using to protect our skin because too much chemical is just not right for our skin.

The most important remedy to protect our skin is to cover ourselves well enough to avoid direct contact from external damaging properties and the next important remedy is to apply sunscreen without any fail even if you are home. Some additional steps with regards to protecting our skin are exfoliation, usage of serum and masks in regular intervals for the regulation of blood in our skin and keep us looking glowy and fresh.

Conclusion

The last thing I would like to remind is that this or any other skincare routine will work only if you will consistently stick to it. You cannot get youthful skin overnight. You have to put in your efforts and work towards your goal of achieving healthy skin. It will take time but will definitely bring out good results if you follow it and make some fundamental life changes like healthy eating, exercising, getting proper sleep, etc. Invest in your skin because it is going to represent you for a long time.
